         <description><![CDATA[We have been informed by ASSET languages that St. Austin's has been awarded 3 more awards for work done with ASSET languages.
One of our pupils (soon to be revealed) became the youngest person in the country to obtain a Grade 3 at Breakthrough level.
We also have a pupil who became the youngest person in the country to obtan a Grade 6 at Preliminary level.
Finally our school is to be honoured for havng the most entries of any primary school in the country.

         <title>European Award for Languages Winners!</title>

         <description><![CDATA[St. Austin's has been awarded a prestigious "European Award for Languages 2008".
This award has been given to us because of the interactive ICT materials we have produced at the school, namely a DVD which features our children talking Spanish. This DVD was given to each Year 6 pupil to take home and play on their DVD player or computer and, at the same time, practise their Spanish.

         <description><![CDATA[To Elizabeth Foulkes who was a Year 6 pupil at St. Austin's last year. We have just heard that Elizabeth has been acclaimed as the most successful primary candidate at ASSET languages assessments for 2008.
She will be receiving her award at a ceremony in London in March. It will be given to her by Jim Knight, MP who is the Minister of State for Schools and Learners.
We will be posting more information about Elizabeth's fantastic achievement soon.

         <title>Visit from St. Thomas Aquinas</title>

         <description><![CDATA[Today we received a visit from 3 members of staff from St. Thomas Aquinas primary school in Milton Keynes. They had heard about all the Spanish we do here in St. Austin's and wanted to witness the teaching and learning of Spanish at first hand.
They spoke to the Headship Team and Señora Martin and then observed some lessons in Reception and Year 5.
They were delighted and very impressed with the level of all the pupills they saw. They said that thsi visit would help them to improve Spanish...]]></description>

         <title>St. Austin's Spanish choir performs in Manchester</title>

         <description><![CDATA[As the first winners of the "Colegio del año" competition in 2006, St. Austin's school were invited to perform at the prize-giving ceremony for the 2007 awards.
Our choir performed 3 songs in front of a star-studded audience which included the Spanish Ambassador,&#160;Don Carlos de Miranda&#160;and Mr. Lid King the current National Languages Director. 
The 3 songs were; "Paz y libertad", "Sin ti" and "De colores". 
Señorita Gallagher put in a lot of hard work with the choir during the weeks...]]></description>
